Brendan Gallagher

BRENDAN GALLAGHER is a music polymath - singer, multi instrumentalist, songwriter, performer, producer, composer, author - some say he was born with a guitar in his hands.

In a career spanning over thirty years he has played on recordings for artists like David Bowie, Jimmy Little and Kylie Minogue.

He has produced over twenty albums, including two ARIA award winners - Jimmy Little's instant Australian classic Messenger (1999) and Karma County's Into The Land Of Promise (2000). His talents extend to piano, drums, percussion and bouzouki, something that has stood him in good stead over the years as an in demand music producer.

Brendan is best known as singer/guitarist with Karma County. Over the last fifteen years the band have released five albums and toured around the world. Karma County's double album retrospective Headland was released through Vitamin Records in 2008. In September 2006 Brendan released his debut solo album On Eve St, it was voted one of the top 25 albums of 2006 for the Australian Music Prize (AMP). In September 2009 he followed up with his second solo album Tooraloo & Tender.

Brendan is also the author of The Open Tuning Chord Book For Guitar. Since 1994 it has found it's way into the guitar cases of musicians like David Bowie, Peter Buck (REM), Lee Ritenour, Arlo Guthrie, Daniel Johns (Silverchair), Paul Kelly, Paul Weller, PJ Harvey, Murray ‘Red Wiggle' Cook, Lloyd Cole, Tim Rogers and guitarists from Ireland to Lithuania. In December 2008 Brendan signed an international publishing deal with Music Sales UK. The new 3rd edition is in shops world wide now.

Brendan's songs have appeared in feature films like Summersault, Clubland & The Boys Are Back and TV shows like Sea Change & City Homicide. He has composed soundtracks for short films by acclaimed directors Rachel Perkins and Warwick Thornton. In 2009 he wrote and produced the original score for Aussie feature film Subdivision.
