Mike Chapman

As a celebrated record producer and songwriter, Chapman is regarded as a major force within the British pop music industry during the 1970's, working on a range of chart topping singles with the likes of Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Smokie, Mud and Racey.

Mike produced Blondie's breakthrough album "Parallel Lines" - the album that turned the band into an international succcess. Within months of Parallel Lines' release, Chapman was working with another band for which he would achieve a career high water mark: power pop outfit The Knack.

Chapman is well known for creating the ChinniChap brand along with co-writer and co-producer Nicky Chinn. From 1973 - 1974 the pair had 19 hits in the Top 40 UK singles chart including 5 number ones including “Lonely This Christmas” by Mud, “Can the Can” by Suzi Quatro and “Touch Too Much” by The Arrows! He was also the songwriter and producer credited with composing Tina Turner's “Simply the Best”, "Better be good to me" and Pat Benatar's “Love is a Battlefield”.
