Viv Fantin

Viv Fantin is the founder of Fantin Comes Alive - a well-established and successful national publicity and media relations company, which has overseen publicity and PR for major music events, festivals, concert tours and television events.

With a degree in Communications, Viv's post university career path began as a promotional assistant for Festival Records, a large independent record company. She then became the first female to be promoted to the position of NSW Promotions Manager before eventually leaving the company to work as a management assistant to the successful multiple ARIA Award winning act The Cruel Sea. The media and industry contacts made during these years allowed for a new career trajectory and she launched her own independent publicity company Cracker Publicity.

Now renamed Fantin Comes Alive, Viv has represented many high profile local and international music artists and major festivals which have included the Big Day Out, Splendour In The Grass, Homebake and the Waveaid Tsunami Benefit Concert as well as high profile music industry events including the APRA Music Awards, APRA - AGSC Screen Music Awards, ARIA Awards, ARIA # 1 Chart Awards and the ARIA Hall of Fame. This is in addition to handling publicity and media relations for more than 100 Australian and international touring artists such as Powderfinger, Jet, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lou Reed and many more.

Viv has also worked in both a media relations' capacity for subscription television music stations Channel [V] and MAX and as founding music producer for the ABC television youth music program Recovery.

In early 2001, Viv Fantin branched out to offer a media training service targeted directly to musicians. Based on more than 17 years of experience working with media and music artists from around the world, the media training program is geared towards artists who are interested in developing their authentic voice and style when giving media interviews. The hands-on approach to these media training sessions is interactive and aims to instil confidence in those artists. In 2006 Viv was invited by the Sydney Institute (TAFE) to teach the Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business). She taught the modules of Marketing and Promotions Product Promotion and Musical Event Operations to young people wanting to pursue a career in the Australian music industry. This also led to guest lecturing invitations from APM Training Institute in Sydney, where Viv took on a yearly intern under a mentorship scheme.

A long and diverse career in the Australian music community has enabled Viv to develop skills that are rich and varied. These include: developing overall media strategies for events and concert tours, consultation with artists / clients and implementation, writing publicity and marketing materials, preparing media kits, understanding the workings of the music & arts media and the nuances which exist between the mediums, the skills and contacts required to mentor and teach young people seeking to enter the music industry, undertaking research and organising artist interviews across all mediums, successfully managing a wide range of media at major events, exploring lateral and creative options for thoughtful media coverage, attention to detail, nurturing and maintaining core relationships with artists, industry stakeholders and media contacts and delivering comprehensive post event reports. Viv's focus is on providing tangible and measurable results with her nationally recognised high level of commitment and loyalty to each project embarked upon.

With a reputation for having strong relationships with the music industry community, Viv's priority is to be able to pass on these acquired skills to the new generation of artists wishing to find their way in the Australian music industry.
